Frequently Asked Questions
Please click on the links below to view the answers. Also, if you ever e-mail me about something and a good number of people ask the same question, I will probably add it onto this list, so watch for more to come!
Shape Quest is updated twice a week. I usually update on Monday and Thursday nights (US time). However, there might be an occasion where I only have time to update the next day (I've been pretty regular with updates so far, though). I will also upload a rare bonus update every once and awhile, so watch for those (I will announce it when that happens).
Yes, as long as you display a link that gives credit back to this site. Also, it can be only ONE comic, not the entire number of strips or something. If I find a site that is displaying a number of my comics, I'll come after you...which is not something I'd particularly like to do. And keep in mind that I am a web developer...I know exactly what to do in such a situation. Would you like a DMCA complaint forwarded to your web host? How about letting Google know that you're practicing Black Hat techniques? We have options. The best thing to do is to simply link to a comic.
You can absolutely link to this site! Create a text link to www.shapequest.net OR pick one of the banners under the Banners page to create an image link! As for a link exchange, no, I simply do not have a place on the site to display something like that. HOWEVER, I will give you a FREE link to your site, without you even having to link back! Though it would be nice if you did. Anyway, see the question below to learn how you can have your link on this site.
Yep! Send me an e-mail with a link to wherever the image is. Please do not send it to me as an attachment or as embedded content in the e-mail. It can be as simple as a Photobucket account. I prefer that the image's width be a maximum of 550 pixels--if larger, I will try to resize it. In the e-mail, include a link to your website (if you have one), and I will display it under the Shape Quest fan art. Lastly, please keep in mind that my definition of fan art is a picture that involves the Shape Quest characters. An image that is similar to my art style but does not involve one of my characters is not fan art. And thank you for taking the time to make something! It always makes me happy to see what the Shape Quest audience has created.
There isn't a need for me to take guest strips at this time. I would consider making a guest strip for another comic--please e-mail me and we could iron out the details there. I wouldn't need many details, just a general summary of what your comic is about and when you would like me to have the strip finished by. I suppose I would need at least a week's notice in advance.
I will create Shape Quest strips for EXACTLY as long as it takes to complete the story--and no longer. I have absolutely no plans on dragging this out just for the sake of creating strips. Every chapter that occurs will be important for the story (even if it's just a side quest they're completing). That said, I don't know how many chapters it will take. The story might evolve and take a different direction from what I can predict currently.
Sorry! You'll just have to wait and see for yourself what'll happen next. :)
I dunno. I suppose it would be nice at some point, but I haven't really found a satisfactory company to work with at this point that would help me create the books with a fair price. I'll let you know if a book will come out, though. You can bet there'd be plenty of bonus stuff in there.
Sure! There are also sites to rate comics, I believe, so you might consider checking those out as well.
Yep--send me an e-mail with the questions and I'll fill in the answers. Be sure to send me a link to the interview when completed!
There are several ways you can support this site. To help pay for the costs, consider purchasing something from the online shop. I can't keep this going without paying for it somehow! And there are also free ways to help as well--keep links to Shape Quest on your site (through the banners provided or otherwise), use the Tell a Friend form to help spread to word, click the vote button on the main page, and talk about it on social networking sites, such as Twitter or Facebook.
"A lot." More than the average person, let's just say. To get a rough idea of the number, you should visit my gamefaqs page, ShapeQuest, where you can see all of my reviews.
Yes. While my characters are based on stereotypical RPG characters that spawn across multiple games, you should play Legend of Dragoon to see where I was inspired for many of my ideas. Lance's background, in particular, is heavily based on Dart's.
Adobe Illustrator, my laptop, and my thinking cap. Also, after the second chapter of the story, I began to add Photoshop into the mix.
It completely depends on the strip. Some might take an hour, some might take a day, depending on how elaborate the particular art in that strip is.
I won't say! Let's just put it like this, for now--while I love FF, it's actually NOT the Final Fantasy series that is my favorite.
